Reaching Out
CoSMO groups (Community Service and Ministry Opportunites) provide students with student lead opportunities to get involved in the community. They believe while service isn't always easy, it should be easy to find ways to serve. CoSMO groups provide that for you and look with you for new ways to reach out to the community.

Amigos meets a few times a week to help teach English to speakers of other languages (ESOL), specifically those who speak Spanish. Students don't even have to know Spanish to participate in teaching.

Students in One Way minister through sharing talents in music, drama, and story-telling. One Way primarily ministers at Echoing Hills Village.

Mandate serves with urban ministries to raise awareness of urban issues during weekend experiences in which students live and serve together in inner-city settings. A small group also meets weekly.

Raises awareness of homelessness by working with a variety of social service organizations and forming relationships with guests of Mount Vernon's homeless shelter, "The Sanctuary".

Students and develpmentally delayed high school students minister to each other during Tuesday or Thursday chapel hour, spending time together on campus.

Join a group of students on a trip to a local nursing home to be with residents after dinner. They talk, laugh, and share unforgettable experiences.

Society of Student Nurses is a special group for MNVNU Nursing students to go together in the community to raise awareness and to be Christlike servants through clinics, blood drives, and educational opportunities.

A college student is matched with an elementary school student and meets with them for lunch and recess once a week.

Students reach out to individuals with disabilities at Echoing Hills Village through fellowship.

College students will be trained by the education department to go to Columbia Elementary School and help kids learn how to read.

Wagon is a time on Saturday nights for young people to come to Mulberry St United Methodist Church and spend time with friends mentoring, playing games, eating meals, and having conversations.

Meet weekly in the chapel and then commute to a low income apartment complex to minister to K-5 children through song, high energy games, Bible lessons, and peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches.

Located downtown, the Escape Zone is a place for middle school and high school students to hang out on Friday night. Spend time with them and serve in the snack bar, play games, host concerts, and make friends.
