MVNU student Christopher Baird publishes first book in series

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Mount Vernon Nazarene University student Christopher Baird released his first book, “The Enduring Light,” on Tuesday, April 5. Published by Tate Publishing, “The Enduring Light” is the first in a five-book series titled “The Chronicles of the Raven Clan.”
In the novel, Lee Christian is busy preparing for his senior year of high school--what he hopes to make the best year yet--when he falls asleep, waking in an unknown land. He soon discovers that what seems like a crazy dream is all too real. Against his will, he's been pulled from life as he knows it and thrown into an alternate dimension.
As he works to make sense of his surroundings, he is fascinated by the mystery and magic of his new setting. But this curiosity only serves to further ignite his burning questions: Why was he brought here? And most importantly, how can he get home? As he seeks answers, he makes friends with those who can help him, joining the Raven Clan and unwittingly becoming entangled in a battle against darkness.

Baird, a chemistry major and creative writing minor at MVNU, wrote “The Enduring Light” and its sequel to keep his mind entertained during long drives while commuting from ITT Technical Institute and The Ohio State University in Columbus. He then typed the manuscripts on weekends and during school breaks, and began to allow his friends to read them. Finally, at his mother’s urging, he decided to publish his works.
