A call to serve is a call to prepare for ministry in a variety of ways. The mission of the School of Theology and Philosophy is to:
  • Guide students in defining and understanding the reality and the implications of God's call upon their lives,
  • Challenge students toward a global mission and servant's heart, and
  • Enable students to serve by providing practical experiences.

Master of Ministry

MVNU now offers two ways to earn a Master of Ministry:

  • Module-based - Attend classes in one-week intensives at the Mount Vernon campus and complete the degree on a flexible time frame within 2 - 6 years.
  • Church-based - Intern with an Ohio teaching church, attend classes on Mondays at one of four MVNU sites, and complete the degree in 3 semesters (11 months).
Master of Divinity (an NTS/MVNU collaboration degree program)

Through a unique partnership between MVNU and the Nazarene Theological Seminary (NTS), you can now earn your NTS Master of Divinity without moving to Kansas City. The program offers a combination of three convenient ways to take classes to earn your degree.
  1. Take classes in the Master of Ministry program at MVNU
  2. Earn a portion of your credits through online instruction from NTS
  3. Attend modular classes at NTS
